ATN champions the implementation of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) in Botswana. The WHO FCTC was developed as a response to the globalization of the tobacco epidemic and is an evidence-based treaty that reaffirms the right of all people to the highest standard of health. ATN plays a key role in advocacy and policy influence on tobacco control initiatives in Botswana. The proposed activities are aimed at fast-tracking the development and implementation of a strong national tobacco control legislation which is compliant to the FCTC, and are also aligned to the strategic plan of the ATN to prevent youth tobacco initiation as well as reduce youth access to tobacco products.
